I was a latecomer to Shadow of the Colossus
. I first discovered the game after watching a playthrough of it on YouTube, and, a few years later, decided to buy the game myself. As a Playstation 2 game, it was a bit dated, but after about five minutes in, I hardly noticed.
The game is breathtaking. Although the story is simple, the way it is told is epic. From the monstrous colossi to the wistful, peaceful landscapes to its glorious soundtrack—this game is always a breath of fresh air when I return to it. I'm glad that I ignored the questioning look a friend gave me when he saw me take the box to the cashier, and I'm glad that my Playstation 2 continues to be in functional condition so that I can replay it over and over again. Shadow of the Colossus is definitely one of—if not, is—my favorite games of all time.
The fanlisting was approved and opened on April 10, 2011 and the shrine portion was added in March-April 2016. In November 2016, the site won the Shrine Spotlight at Amassment!
And they shall fall
was really chosen on a whim. Unfortunately, I was rather busy when I was approved for the fanlisting, and I rushed to get it up and running as soon as possible (which explains the messy layout that was up since... forever). I considered changing it while overhauling the website, but decided to keep it in the end. I liked how it could be interpreted multiple ways: it could either be the colossi who "shall fall" or—and this is my preference—the colossi and Wander who "shall fall." It was also inspired by Dormin
's words at the beginning of the game:
In this land, there exist colossi that are the incarnations of those idols. If thou defeat those colossi the idols shall fall.
